School books, backpack and Casablanca map used to compare international schools

Casablanca has Morocco’s deepest choice of international schooling: a large French-homologated network, American schools, British/Cambridge options and IB programmes.

The right school depends more on curriculum continuity, admissions, commute and total cost than on reputation alone.

Last verified: October 2026

This guide helps expat and internationally mobile families compare a focused selection of schools. It is not a ranking. Start with the curriculum your child needs, confirm whether a place is actually available, calculate the full first-year cost and test the school journey before choosing an apartment.

For an overview of the Moroccan system, public and private options and school planning in other cities, begin with Schools in Morocco for Expats.

Fee and admissions note: amounts below are official published 2026–27 figures checked in October 2026. Fees, categories, availability and admissions rules can change. A published tuition figure is not a promise of admission and does not include every extra. Ask the school for a dated written quotation for your child’s exact level before paying or signing a lease.

Choose the Curriculum First

French and AEFE-homologated schools

French-system schools suit families seeking continuity with France or another French curriculum. AEFE homologation means the approved levels follow programmes and standards recognized by the French Ministry of Education, supporting continuity between homologated schools and preparation for French national diplomas.

Casablanca has an unusually dense French network. Lycée Lyautey covers secondary education, while EFI and Louis-Massignon cover preschool through the end of secondary school. Al Jabr also has homologated levels, but families must verify the exact campus and programme because the group includes distinct pathways.

Homologation does not make admissions automatic. The 2026–27 French-network application window ran from 5 January to 11 March 2026. EFI states that applications from expatriate families arriving in Casablanca can still be examined during the year, but only within available capacity.

American schools

Casablanca American School and George Washington Academy provide English-led American pathways from early years to Grade 12. Both publish structured admissions procedures and official 2026–27 fees.

Check how the child’s current records map to the school’s grade structure, whether an assessment is required and which diploma pathway applies in the final years. An American curriculum can support international mobility, but a future transfer into a French, British or national system still needs planning.

British / Cambridge

The British International School of Casablanca states that it follows the Cambridge curriculum interwoven with elements of the UK National Curriculum. Its pathway covers EYFS, junior and preparatory stages, followed by IGCSE and A-level years.

Entry into later secondary stages is not always straightforward. The school notes that joining an IGCSE course after it has started can be difficult and that A-level entry depends on prior academic results. Its official 2026–27 tuition schedule was not publicly verifiable when this guide was checked, so request the current fee sheet directly.

IB programmes

A school offering an IB programme is not necessarily an “IB school” across every age or grade. The official IB directory lists Casablanca American School and George Washington Academy for the Diploma Programme. Their own pages place that option in Grades 11 and 12.

Casablanca American School also describes Nursery to Grade 6 as a Primary Years Programme candidate for 2026–27. Candidate status is not authorization. Always check the official IB directory for the exact programme rather than assuming an IB label applies throughout the school.

Schools to Consider

Lycée Lyautey

Lycée Lyautey is a major directly managed AEFE school with 3,646 pupils listed by AEFE and seven homologated levels from 6e to Terminale. It is not a preschool or primary option. The school is at 260 Boulevard Ziraoui, placing it closer to central neighborhoods than the outer campuses south and west of Casablanca.

The official 2026–27 EFM tariff sheet lists annual tuition for French pupils at 44,500 MAD in collège and 48,200 MAD in lycée. For other nationalities, the published amounts are 54,800 and 60,700 MAD. The same network document lists a 30,000 MAD first-registration fee for directly managed Casablanca-Mohammedia schools.

École Française Internationale de Casablanca

EFI is a fully homologated French school from Petite Section to Terminale in Casa Anfa. It combines the French curriculum with a multilingual approach and publishes a specific gateway programme for pupils who are not yet fluent in French.

That gateway is not a universal all-age solution. EFI says it serves non- or weakly French-speaking children in preschool and elementary, with a language assessment and up to 10 hours of French as a foreign language per week depending on need. Families applying for older children should ask for an individual admissions assessment rather than assume the same support is available.

Published tuition is 54,500 MAD for preschool, 59,000 MAD for elementary, 69,000 MAD for middle school and 71,000 MAD for high school. The first-registration fee is 45,000 MAD and annual re-registration is 6,500 MAD. EFI also states that its uniform is compulsory but not included in these figures.

LFI Louis-Massignon

Louis-Massignon is listed by AEFE with all 15 levels from Petite Section to Terminale homologated. The main site is associated with Ville Verte / Bouskoura, while the network tariff sheet identifies a separate Casa Anfa preschool price.

Annual 2026–27 tuition is 55,400 MAD for preschool, 56,400 MAD for elementary, 62,000 MAD for middle school and 76,700 MAD for high school. Casa Anfa preschool is listed at 45,000 MAD. First registration is 25,000 MAD, reduced to 20,000 MAD for a sibling under the published conditions.

Casablanca American School

Casablanca American School is in Quartier Californie and runs from Nursery to Grade 12. The official IB directory confirms authorization for the Diploma Programme, and the school offers it in Grades 11 and 12.

Its 2026–27 family-rate tuition is 88,678 MAD for Nursery to Kindergarten, 130,091 MAD for PF to Grade 5, 151,977 MAD for Grades 6–8 and 158,054 MAD for Grades 9–12. Corporate rates are higher. The application fee is 1,000 MAD, the annual facility fee is 5,000 MAD and the one-time admission fee is 50,000 MAD for a first child, 40,000 MAD for a second and 30,000 MAD for a third or subsequent child.

The school publishes a staged process: inquiry and visit, complete application, records and recommendations, testing or observation, admissions decision and payment. It requests documents including identity records, medical information and previous school reports.

George Washington Academy

George Washington Academy is on Boulevard Abdelhadi Boutaleb, formerly the Route d’Azemmour. It offers an American curriculum from Discovery through Grade 12 and an IB Diploma option in Grades 11–12, confirmed by the official IB directory.

Published 2026–27 tuition is 94,450 MAD for Discovery, 107,640 MAD for Pre-K and Kindergarten, 133,700 MAD for Grades 1–5, 153,900 MAD for Grades 6–8 and 168,700 MAD for Grades 9–12. Application is 1,200 MAD. The one-time entry fee is 40,000 MAD for a first child, 30,000 MAD for a second and 20,000 MAD for a third. The school also lists annual enrolment and programme fees.

Applications include documents, an application fee, age-appropriate testing and an interview before committee review. The school publishes optional bus prices but states that service depends on the route perimeter and available places.

British International School of Casablanca

BISC is a coeducational day school at P3020 Route Sidi Messoud. It publishes a Cambridge-led curriculum for ages 3–18, including EYFS, IGCSE and A-level stages. English is the teaching language, with French, Arabic and Spanish also offered.

The admissions process varies by stage. The school assesses relevant language, literacy and mathematics skills in primary and uses English and mathematics assessments plus an interview for Years 7–9. Entry into IGCSE and A-level stages is considered individually. School reports, identity documents, medical forms and recommendations are among the published file requirements.

2026–27 tuition not publicly verified — request the current fee schedule from the school. The school’s payment policy refers to separate tuition, uniform, canteen and bus fees and states that these payments are non-refundable, but it does not publicly state the amounts on the pages checked.

Al Jabr and Al Jabr International School

Al Jabr adds a distinct French and bilingual option. AEFE lists 14 homologated levels at École Al Jabr, from Moyenne Section through Terminale, and PS to CM2 at Al Jabr International School. AIS describes a 50% French and 50% English model, so families should not treat the two names or campuses as interchangeable.

The 2026–27 network tariff document lists Al Jabr tuition from 43,500 MAD in preschool to 60,600 MAD in high school, with a 16,000 MAD first-registration fee. AIS tuition runs from 51,700 MAD in preschool to 60,300 MAD in middle school, with a 25,000 MAD first-registration fee. Annual re-registration is listed at 7,000 MAD. Confirm the campus, pathway and next stage in writing.

Fees: Compare the Total Cost, Not Tuition Alone

A school that looks cheaper in the tuition column may cost more in the first year once entry, facilities, transport, meals and required items are added. Use the same cost categories for every school.

Admissions: What Families Should Prepare

There is no universal Casablanca admissions process. Prepare a complete file early, but follow each school’s own instructions.

  • Child’s passport or birth certificate and parent identity documents.
  • Recent school reports, transcripts and standardized test results where applicable.
  • Teacher recommendations or confidential school forms if requested.
  • Medical forms, vaccination information and identification photos.
  • Language or academic assessment, observation or interview.
  • Application fee and, after acceptance, payment required to secure the place.

CAS and GWA publish staged admissions with testing or observation. BISC sets different expectations for primary, lower secondary, IGCSE and A-level entry. French-network schools use the EFM/SCAC process for the main annual campaign, with school-specific follow-up after a decision.

Start with availability for the child’s exact year. A school can be academically suitable and still be unavailable. Do not sign a long lease based only on submitting an application.

Choose the School Before the Apartment

In Casablanca, a strong school choice can become a poor family choice if the daily commute is unmanageable.

Traffic changes by direction and school time. Test the real morning and afternoon route on a normal weekday. A map estimate outside peak hours is not enough. School transport can help, but an existing bus service does not guarantee that your neighborhood is served or that a seat is available.

Which Option Fits Your Family?

French family transferring from France

Prioritize AEFE continuity, a place at the correct level, application timing and a neighborhood that keeps the daily school journey realistic.

English-speaking family staying two or three years

Prioritize an English-led curriculum, compatibility with the next destination, admissions assessment and the complete cost of a short enrolment period.

Long-term international family

Look beyond primary school. Verify the secondary pathway, graduation option, subject choices and university trajectory before committing.

Child who does not yet speak French

Ask for written details of language support and entry conditions. EFI’s published gateway supports non- or weakly French-speaking pupils in preschool and elementary; it should not be assumed for secondary.

School Visit Checklist

  • Is there a place for my child’s exact level and intended start date?
  • Which curriculum and diploma does this campus actually provide?
  • Which languages are used for teaching, homework and parent communication?
  • What support exists for a child changing language or school system?
  • What is the complete first-year price, not only annual tuition?
  • Which fees are refundable, non-refundable, mandatory or optional?
  • Are lunch, bus, uniform, books, devices, exams and trips included?
  • Does the bus serve our exact neighborhood, and is a seat available?
  • What assessment, interview and records are required?
  • Can we test the home-to-school route at normal school times?

Plan the School Budget Inside the Full Move

International tuition can be one of the largest items in a family budget. Combine school costs with housing, transport and setup expenses using the Cost of Living in Morocco guide.

If you are still organizing residency, housing, banking and healthcare around the move, use the complete guide to moving to Morocco. School admission and the first weeks of temporary accommodation should normally come before a long housing commitment.

FAQ About International Schools in Casablanca

What international curricula are available in Casablanca?

Families can find French and AEFE-homologated education, American schools, a British/Cambridge pathway and authorized IB Diploma Programmes. Bilingual and trilingual options also exist, but the exact language balance and authorized levels depend on the school and campus.

How much do international schools in Casablanca cost?

Official 2026–27 tuition in the schools covered here ranges from about 43,500 MAD to 168,700 MAD per year, depending on school, level, nationality category and programme. First-registration, application, facility, bus, meal, uniform and activity fees can materially increase the first-year total.

What does AEFE homologation mean?

It means the approved levels follow programmes and standards recognized by the French Ministry of Education, supporting continuity within the French education network. Homologation applies to specified levels; it does not guarantee admission or mean every campus and class is approved automatically.

Which Casablanca schools offer the IB?

The official IB directory confirms the Diploma Programme at Casablanca American School and George Washington Academy. Both place that option in Grades 11 and 12. Verify the exact programme and level because IB authorization is programme-specific.

Are there American and British schools in Casablanca?

Yes. Casablanca American School and George Washington Academy provide American pathways. The British International School of Casablanca follows a Cambridge-led British pathway through IGCSE and A-level stages.

Do international schools in Casablanca provide school buses?

Some do, but transport is school-, route- and capacity-dependent. GWA publishes optional 2026–27 bus fees and states that service depends on its perimeter and available places. Ask every school whether your exact neighborhood is covered before relying on the bus.

Should I choose the school before the neighborhood?

Usually yes. Secure or seriously confirm the school first, then test the commute from possible neighborhoods at real school times. A good apartment can become a poor family choice if the daily journey is exhausting.

Can a child join a French school without speaking French?

It depends on the school, age, assessment and available support. EFI publishes a gateway programme for non- or weakly French-speaking pupils in preschool and elementary. Do not assume the same support exists in secondary or at every French school.

Are registration fees separate from tuition?

Often, yes. Several schools publish separate application, first-registration, entry, facility or annual re-registration fees. Many are non-refundable. Ask for the complete first-year invoice and payment policy before committing.
